Success
is only a matter of time
  • Get a good night's sleep prior to the big day. A well-rested person is calm, confident, and ready.
  • Remember to bring your ID number and two forms of identification. One must contain a photo (e.g. driver’s license).
  • It is always best to dress in layers, as the test centers are often cool. You need to be comfortable to do your best.
  • Arrive early and take a moment to relax and reduce your anxiety. Getting to the test should be the least of your concerns.
  • Follow the instructions given by the proctor and on the computer carefully.
  • Read the questions carefully.
  • Be very careful and make sure you're on the right numbers.
  • Always try to guess what the answer is BEFORE you look at the choices.
  • Answer the easy questions first, then go back and answer the more difficult ones.
  • Read and consider all of the answer choices before you choose the one that best answers the question.
  • If you are unsure about an answer, eliminate what it CAN'T be. Eliminate two alternatives quickly and then make the decision between the two remaining.
  • If after a few seconds you are still perplexed, mark the question so you can find it easier later and go on with the test. Go back to that question later.
  • The hardest questions are worth the same number of points as the easy ones. So, if a question is confusing or too time-consuming keep moving on. If you have some time left over at the end of a section, you can go back to the questions you had difficulty answering.
  • Keep a steady pace and do not let more difficult questions affect your attitude and steal your valuable time.
  • Answer every question. There is no penalty for guessing, so it is to your advantage to answer every question during the time allowed for each test.
  • You are not penalized for wrong answers.
  • Change answers only when you are certain. The answer which comes to mind first is often correct. Reviewing with an anxious mind and changing answers when you are not certain can do more harm than good.
  • When you have completed your test, use the remaining time effectively, and review your answers.
